Evil is!
No surprising announcement
evil around us
secrets without pronouncement.
So what does it mean,
what is it to you?
Can be your worst fear
as it watches the few.
Evil is present in everyday life
it is touched lightly
when your world is in strife.
Evil makes you wonder
if your God is a lie.
Evil tells your thinking
that you may want to die.
Evil is named
it could be Satan the dark one
or Herod, or Judas, or Hitler, or Stalin.
It could be silence, or hatred, or bigot, or squander
whatever you call it
it looks as it wanders.
Evils not only
the bomb in the square
or the shooting in school
or the rape of one fair.
Evil is a force of nature's intent
It is wicked and sinful
and it knows what is meant.
Evil begins when you don't pay attention
when there is some grocery unpaid for
or too much change being given.
You might know when it's present
it may give you a hint
when your hair stands on end
or your mind won't repent.
And once it gets in
evil stays for a while
watching you closely
to see where you're vile.
When it finds it's way in
to your life as you know it
and it has spotted your weakness
because you did show it
then evil will treasure
the lack of care that it sees
and take full advantage
of you on your knees.
It begets anger
it is harmful, immoral
it will make you smile
it will laugh as you follow.
Now some may need slaughter
and some may need pain
there are also those monsters
that creep in the rain.
Evil loves darkness
it pays off no debt
it will lunge at your soul
while you vomit regret.
Evil is loss
it is what you crave
by the time you've had much
it's got you in your grave.
Evil can be banished
you can send it away
you just need to know
what game that it plays.
Once you've determined
it's looking for you
fill up your mind
with what it is that is true.
Then evil will see
that you sing the right song
and it will leave you alone
as you travel along.
There is no great magic
there are rules you must follow
and if you do this
evil's touch will be hollow.
