Mothers Tears

To look through the glass
of a window so high
is to look at the glory
of Mother Nature's great eye.
The Mother’s vision is clear
of the earth and the sky
of the forests and streams
and the birds as they fly.
She wanders and listens
as those she keeps-cry
and the Mother does wonder
why it is that she tries.
But there are still happy times
of beauty and glory
as flowers bloom brightly
and the trees tell their story.

As the fish swim upstream
and the fox runs for cover
and the swans float in tandem
as if they were lovers.
Our oceans shine turquoise
and our rivers flow swiftly
while speaking their noise
they roll strong and with mystery.
Our sun wakes every morning
the rain falls to give life
and the mountains that roar
still thunder with strife.
But as species’ erase
from this world as we know it
and water runs dirty, so bad
we avoid it.
The Mother does see
that her work is in vain
and she answers the call
pouring acid as rain.
The warmer our world gets
the harder she cries
great storms rage around us
as tears flow from her eyes.
We have poisoned this world
and we've watched as it suffers
Mother Nature in shame
tears it down all around us.
there's no answer, just blame
in her mind as she watches
she'll start over from scratch
begin again just without us.
We are just a speck
one remnant of dust
that will float through the universe
after our brief little fuss.
Mother Nature will reign
as she has all along
forgetting the pain
that we caused for so long.
And our world as we know it
will have finally surrendered
one more test in the tube
Mother Nature remembers.
If our time comes again
for us to crawl out from under
you can bet Mother Nature
won't repeat her great blunder.
Then back on the wind
our small speck will continue
to look for a world
without a great window.
But if we learn what we must
and can turn back the dial
Mother Nature’s great eye
may help with a smile.
