A single word can change a lifetime
A single touch can make a smile
If your looking for a respite
a single hug can last awhile.
The cool night air can leave you breathless
The bright, blue moon can close your eyes
And when you rest upon the ocean
a single wave can reach the sky.
A loving kiss can leave you craving
change your world and all you see.
A single tree can lift your spirits
The blowing wind can make you free.
In all of time your life is only
the single thing seen through your eyes
no other being can live your lifetime
no single lifetime always thrives.
A single tear drop can bring rainfall
A single thorn prick can draw blood
but if you stop to smell the roses
a scent euphoric just may flood.
Fruit on the vine can make you thirsty
for the juices that it holds.
The warmth of sunshine in the springtime
can tend to make you very bold.
In the presence of the animals
you come to realize we're not alone
all earths creatures walk with pride
in a constant search of home.
So as you wander on life's journey
remember how your sojourn feels
and try to celebrate small wonders
that cross your path and that are real.
For being real or make believe
can often feel the same
but living life as fantasy
may bring your soul to shame.
