Deception

Deception spends

what is not earned

it pays for lies

with others turn.

It acts as light

but slowly darkens

And wishes all

a greater fall.

Deception laughs

when not amused

creates confusion

then offers clues.

It brings on promise

but leaves with fact

and seldom gives

time to react.

Deception wanders

it looks for living

instead of work

it waits for giving.

But when it's finished

and lies are open

deception covers

with words soft spoken.

Where there is life

it melts away

Where there is faith

It looks to pray.

Deception plots

it knows the trail

It often preys

on those to frail.

It acts as blind

but sees what need be

it points the way

then speeds loss meekly.

Deception cries

to get it's way

and leaves tears freely

in hope they sway.

It's emotion

is clear to see

unless you look

more closely.

Deception speaks

with lips wide shut

it's lies come quietly

with strident strut.

It's eyes are open

with no one there

for it looks inward

to see who cares.

It's arms reach out

to show it's fair

while it leaves

all in despair.
